The Society was formed with the following aims:

  • To promote the music of George Lloyd by arranging performances and broadcasts. 
  • To administer the composer's copyrights and licences.
  • To maintain the George Lloyd Music Library and make available his scores and orchestral parts.
  • To typeset new editions of a selection of George Lloyd’s scores.  
  • To maintain the biographical archive of manuscripts, correspondence and photographs etc.
  • To complete the recording of Lloyd’s musical works.* 
  • To maintain a diary and newsletter for the benefit of members.

The Society has been formed with the support of Albany Records, who are offering to Members a free copy of the CD Indomitable Spirit, a retrospective compilation featuring highlights from some of Lloyd's lesser known works.  No subscription fee is required. * As at September 2017, Albany Records (UK), Albany Records (US) and the George Lloyd Society have issued 27 CDs.   Many of his works, particularly music for brass, have been recorded and issued on other labels. A few shorter orchestral works, some songs, and one opera remain to be recorded.
