George Lloyd - Online Biography

The George Lloyd Society is compiling a series of articles outlining the biography of the composer, drawing on the extensive archive of correspondence, photographs, press and first hand accounts from his associates. 

These articles can be downloaded as PDF files from our download area. 


Topics (so far) include:
Antecedents, early days in St Ives artist's colony, education, early success, Royal Marines, Arctic convoys, HMS Trinidad,  shell-shock and PTSD, slow recovery, Festival of Britain and John Socman, breakdown and retreat,  Ryewater Gardens, composition, John Ogdon and rehabilitation, move to London and an Indian Summer.
