BBC Proms 2013
We are very pleased to announce that there will be TWO performances of music by George Lloyd at this year’s BBC Proms 2013.
The Requiem is paired with Britten’s A Boy was Born on September 3rd (Late Prom - 10 pm start)
David Hill conducts an early and a late work respectively by two centenary composers. Britten’s A Boy was Born was written when the composer was just 19 years old and first broadcast on the day of Edward Elgar’s death.
George Lloyd’s Requiem, written in memory of Diana, Princess of Wales, receives its London premiere.
Lloyd’s HMS Trinidad March will be played (just before Rule Britannia) on the Last Night – September 7th.

Facebook
Just a reminder - There are now two Facebook pages for George Lloyd!
The Society administers the page called George Lloyd Centenary, and there is also a ‘Band/Musician’ page, administered by a third party. If you are a Facebook user, please add your name to our Friends list, which is updated more often than this Newsletter!
Facebook turns up some interesting comments:"He (Lloyd) sometimes resembles the French composers of Les Six, in whose work a high degree of polish and craftsmanship goes hand in hand with genuine popular appeal."
